Dear Parent/Carer

Thank you for choosing to send your child to Quarry Mount Primary school.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you. My name is Miss Meiklejohn and I will be your child's Reception class teacher at Quarry Mount. We are very much looking forward to meeting your children and yourselves as soon as it is safe to do so.

I would like to encourage you to look at the school website to find important information about starting school in September. I have recorded a short video tour of the classroom and outdoor area, as well as a video of me reading a story. This will enable your child to see who I am and become familiar with the school building!

I have put a variety of documents on the website for you to read or print off. Hopefully this information will help allay any worries and help you feel more prepared for when your child starts school. We aim to make sure your child’s transition to school is as smooth as it can be and please don’t hesitate to email or phone school if you have any questions.
Stay safe and keep well.

Kind regards,

Miss Meiklejohn

Other useful information

I have put together a list of websites for you to use with your children. You are probably already familiar with c beebies but I would highly recommend alphablocks and numberblocks. The children find them very engaging. The website Hungry Little Minds requires you to click on the correct age group (4-5). If anyone has younger children too, it is worth exploring as there are activities from birth.

There is an app you can download onto your phone called
'50 things to do before you are 5' It is compatible with apple and android phones. Each activity recommends stories to share, tells you what you need, why the activity benefits your child, words to use with your child and more. I think this is a wonderful app for parents.
