Home Learning week beginning 17.9.20

I have added some activities for you to do with your children at home this week. Please try and select a few of the activities to help your child with their learning at this very early stage of their Reception year. I am sure they will enjoy them. In school we have been enjoying getting to know each other and find our way around the indoor and outdoor classroom. All the children have been settling really well and I am so proud of all of the children. They have been amazing and have coped with the transition from nursery so well.

Dear Parent/ Carer

Thank you for choosing to send your child to Quarry Mount Primary school.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you. My name is Mrs. Karen Robinson and I am the Early Years leader here at Quarry Mount. We are very much looking forward to meeting your children and yourselves as soon as it is safe to do so.

Firstly I would like to take a bit of time to talk about the current situation we have with the coronavirus. At the moment we don’t know how long the school closure will last but we all hope that we are able to welcome you and your family to Quarry Mount in September 2020.

I would like to encourage you to look at the school website to find important information about starting school in September. Myself along with Mrs. Richards, Miss. Paterson and Miss. Boucher (Reception staff team) have all read the children a story. This will enable your child to see who we are! You can find us on the website page. I have put a variety of documents on the website for you to read or print off. Hopefully this information will help allay any worries and help you feel more prepared for when your child starts school. We aim to make sure your child’s transition to school is as smooth as it can be and please don’t hesitate to email or phone school if you have any questions.
Stay safe and keep well.

Kind regards,

Karen Robinson

I have put together a list of websites for you to use with your children. You are probably already familiar with c beebies but I would highly recommend alphablocks and numberblocks. The children find them very engaging. The website Hungry Little Minds requires you to click on the correct age group (4-5). If anyone has younger children too, it is worth exploring as there are activities from birth.

There is an app you can download onto your phone called
'50 things to do before you are 5' It is compatible with apple and android phones. Each activity recommends stories to share, tells you what you need, why the activity benefits your child, words to use with your child and more. I think this is a wonderful app for parents.
Powerpoint presentation for new parents

This powerpoint presentation is what we would use at our meeting for new parents. Please take the time to read the information as it may answer many of your questions. On the last slide there is an email address. Please use this for now but we are hoping to change this shortly. As soon as we have a new email address we will inform you via the website. Thank you
